The Kiwanis Club of Monterey was established in 1926 and, for many years, it’s male-only members met every Friday for lunch and a featured speaker. As the Club now approaches its 100th birthday, it is led by women and men from multiple Monterey County cities. We still meet for lunch on the first and third Wednesday, but also for dinner on the second Wednesday of each month.  As we have for nearly a century, we feature a variety of speakers from the community at our meetings who entertain and inform on a wide range of topics.

Whichever time suits your schedule–day or evening–you are welcome to visit one of our meetings as our guest! Check the calendar at this link for details on time and place.

Our members serve the Monterey Peninsula by volunteering at community events such as the July 4th parade, First Night Monterey, and Cutting Day at Friendly Plaza. We also help distribute food for the Monterey County Food Bank and participate in the Adopt-a-Park program by caring for a small garden area near the Coast Guard Pier. Every Monterey first-grade student in MPUSD receives a book to take home and keep each month of the school year, thanks to the Monterey Kiwanis.

Additionally, we select a deserving high school graduate every year to receive a four-year college scholarship and respond to multiple requests for support for a wide variety of good causes including Eagle Scout projects, museum outreach programs, sports equipment for schools, etc. This important support is made possible by fundraising projects throughout the year. Our single largest fundraiser is the annual TaylorMade/Pebble Beach International Golf Tournament where we recruit and manage some 300 volunteers. We also raise funds by providing volunteers for the Big Sur International Marathon each spring and the Half Marathon in the fall, and by staffing a concession tent at the AT&T Pro-Am.

Being part of the Kiwanis Club of Monterey provides our members with ongoing opportunities for volunteer service, community involvement, and friendship. You are welcome to attend one of our meetings to learn more about us or follow this link for how to reach us

Kiwanis clubs, located in 80 nations, help their communities in countless ways. Each community’s needs are different, so each Kiwanis club is different. By working together, members achieve what one person cannot accomplish alone. When you give a child the chance to learn, experience, dream, grow, succeed, and thrive, great things happen.
