Early Literacy Project

Since 2018, the Kiwanis Club of Monterey Foundation has been purchasing books for children in Monterey public schools. Starting in 2020, this has meant a book for every child in every first-grade class each month of the school year. We have donated more than 10,000 books so far!.

In addition, we regularly put new children’s books in various “little libraries” around town and hand out books during the city’s Trunk or Treat event each fall.
